Can you work and receive the Disabled Adult Allowance (DAA)?
Verified 01 May 2023 - Legal and Administrative Information Directorate (Prime Minister)
YesHowever, in some cases you can combine your employment income with the Disabled Adult Allowance (DAA). The rules for cumulation differ depending on whether you are doing your business in ordinary environment or in a State: titleContent.
Ordinary environment
When you start working, your professional income is not taken into account during the first 6 months to calculate your AAH. So during that period, you collect your entire AAH.
After 6 months, your AAH is reduced (we're talking about a Differential AAH). To calculate your AAH, the Caf: titleContent (or the AMM if you are covered by the agricultural scheme) takes into account your professional income from which it applies a abatement.
Monthly gross salary | Abatement rate | Revenues used to calculate your AAH |
---|---|---|
Up to €524.16 | The abatement is 80% | The Cfa takes into account 20% of your monthly gross salary |
More than €524.16 | The abatement is 40% | The Cfa takes into account 60% of your monthly gross salary |
For accurate information on calculation methods, you should contact your CAC or MSA.

Please note
if you work simultaneously and part-time in regular and in-state environments, salaries in both the state and in regular environments are taken into account for the calculation of the AAH. Resources are considered at the quarter level. The allowances applicable to each of those remunerations shall continue to apply.
State
You receive a guaranteed remuneration (salary paid in the State) varying between 55% and 110% hourly minimum wage.
You can combine guaranteed compensation and AAH. However, this cumulation may not exceed:
- €1,747.20 if you live alone,
- €2,271.36 if you live as a couple,
- €2,533.44 if you live as a couple and have a child or ascendant to be charged.
When the total of the guaranteed remuneration and the AAH exceeds these amounts, AAH is reduced. To calculate your AAH, the Caf: titleContent (or the AMM if you are covered by the agricultural scheme) takes into account your guaranteed remuneration from which it applies a abatement.
Guaranteed remuneration | Abatement rate | Guaranteed remuneration taken into account for the calculation of your AAH |
