Adoption
Adoption creates a link between parentage between the adopter and the adopted.
A single person or a married, former or cohabiting couple may adopt a minor or an adult, French or foreigners.
Adoption may be simple or plenary. In the case of simple adoption, ties with the family of origin are maintained. In the case of full adoption, there is a complete breakdown of the adoptee's ties with his family of origin.
It is the adoptive parent who must apply for adoption.
