Census of Citizens, JDC and National Service

Every Frenchman from the age of 16 must do the mandatory citizen census and then participate in the Defense and Citizenship Day (JDC). If he does not take these steps, he cannot register for the exams and competitions of the State (driver's license, baccalaureate...) before 25 years. The Frenchman who has done his military service can prove it with the help of a certification of services performed or, in the case of an exemption, a military position certificate.
