Electric and hydrogen powered two-wheelers, three-wheelers and quadricycles are now considered to be very low-emission vehicles (VTFE). These clean motorcycles and scooters thus benefit from privileged driving and parking conditions. A decree issued in Official Journal november 20, 2020, expands the list of ultra-low emission vehicles below 3.5 tons.

However, these vehicles can now be used on the lanes reserved for the use of public transport vehicles, taxis, carpooling vehicles and very low-emission vehicles when the authority holding the power of traffic police, that is to say the mayor or the prefect depending on the road, has authorized it.

In addition, companies with more than 100 mopeds and light motorcycles with a maximum power of 1 kilowatt or more must incorporate a minimum proportion of such vehicles when renewing their fleet.

FYI

The possibility of reserving a public road to facilitate the circulation of public transport vehicles, taxis, carpooling vehicles and ultra-low emission vehicles was provided for in the Mobility Guidance Act (LOM) of December 2019.
