Public hospital: upgrading salaries of staff in contact with patients

Following the agreements of the Ségur de la santé signed on July 13, 2021, the remuneration of nursing, medico-technical and re-education personnel (nurses, nursing assistants, physiotherapists, speech therapists, radio manipulators...) of the hospital public service is upgraded from 1er October 2021. More than 500,000 public employees are affected by the upgrading of their salary scales.

Upgrading pay scales to 1er october 2021 covers all carers (carers, nurses, specialized nurses, healthcare professionals) as well as medical-technical and rehabilitation professionals (physiotherapists, radio manipulators, occupational therapists, orthoptists, speech therapists, psychomotricians or pedicure-podologists).

Announced on April 12, 2021, by the Minister of Solidarity and Health, the upgrading of careers for paramedics is the second component of the health sector agreements signed in July 2020.

A first increase of €183 net per month had been set up at the end of 2020 for professionals in health institutions and Ehpads (nurses, nursing assistants, midwives, radio handlers, medical secretaries...) and for social and medico-social professionals in other sectors (support for disabled people, home help, child protection...).

This general increase of €183 net per month will be extended to an additional 18,500 social and medico-social care workers in the public service, but whose facilities are not attached to a hospital or Ehpad.

As an example:

  • an early-career general care nurse will receive €2,026 monthly net, or €290 net per month more: €183 net under item 1re upgrading of the Health Sector + €107 net for upgrading category A grids.
  • a general care nurse after five years of career will receive €2,207 net per month, €335 net per month more: €183 net under item 1re upgrading of the Health Sector + €152 net for upgrading category A grids.
  • an early career care assistant will receive €1,760 net per month, or €228 net per month more: €183 net under item 1re upgrading of the Health Sector + €45 net under category B.
  • a care assistant after five years of service will receive €1,838 net per month, or €261 net per month more: €183 net under item 1re upgrading of the Health Sector + €78 net under category B.
