While the period is still marked by rising prices, members of the Unédic board of directors, representing employees and employers, decided to increase unemployment benefits twice in 2023. At 1er in april, they had ruled on an initial 1.9% increase. By a majority of the votes cast, a further increase of 1.9% to 1er July was voted on.

New amounts as of July 1, 2023

As stated in the decree of 28 July 2019, the Board of Directors of Unédic may increase part or all of the unemployment benefits.

The amounts of unemployment insurance benefits at 1er july 2023 are:

  • Minimum allocation passes from €31 to €31.59 per day. In Mayotte, it is raised to €15.78 per day compared to €15.20.
  • The fixed part of the Return to Employment Assistance (RWA) is transferred from €12.71 to €12.95 per day compensated.
  • The return-to-work training allowance (ARE-F) will be at least €22.61 per day compared to 22,19 €. In Mayotte, it is raised to €11.31 per day compared to 10,89 €.
  • The floor relating to the application of the degressivity coefficient shall pass from €62.53 to €63.72.

Reminder

this increase comes after an increase of 2.9% on 1er july 2022 and a one-off 1.9% recovery at 1er April 2023. On average, the annual rate of increase has been 1.3% over the last five years.

The revaluation of the minimum allowance and the fixed part shall apply to all recipients concerned by those parameters from the first day of their revaluation.

The increase of 1.9% of the daily reference wage (SJR) relates to recipients who receive compensation on 1er july 2023 whose reference salary is composed of remuneration for employment contracts that have since ended at least 6 months, or about 1.7 million people.

For around 290 000 beneficiaries, the increase relates only to the fixed part because they do not have the required seniority.

When will the new allowance be in place?

Starting on 1er in july 2023, Pôle emploi recipients receive a transfer of the reassessed amount to their bank account. No action is required to benefit from this increase, it is done automatically as soon as you update your file every month.
