With France Identité, generate one-time credentials

Since February 14, 2024, the France Identité app is available for everyone. It allows you to create a dematerialized version of your identity card and of your driving license. This is an optional device. The digital version does not replace the physical version of your document.

By digitizing your ID card you can:

• create one-time credentials;
• use France Identity to identify you on FranceConnect.

How to create an account France Identité?

To create an account on the France Identité application, you must meet a few conditions:

• be of age;
• have a phone compatible with the France Identité application;
• have a new small-format national identity card (deployed since 2021).

If you meet all of these requirements, you can download the France Identity app on your Android or on your iPhone.

You can then save your ID card to your phone. The instructions appear on the screen. If necessary, a video tutorial offered by France Identité explains the step-by-step approach.

How to generate a single-use proof of identity with the France Identité application?

Generate proof of identity from the France Identity application reduces the risk of spoofing of your identity. It replaces double-sided copies of your ID.

To obtain a single-use credential, you must:

• go to the France Identité application;
• Click on “Create a credential”.
• provide the recipient with your proof of identity;
• select the deadline for the use of the voucher, according to the validity periods proposed by the application;
• state the reason, if necessary;
• Click continue and enter your PIN.
• bring your identity card and do a contactless reading.

When you generate a proof of identity, you get a document electronically signed by the Ministry of Interior. Credential is generated in PDF format. You can save it and share it according to the medium expected by the recipient (sms, email...).
