Enrolling a child in school after a move

Are you moving and your child needs to change schools? To enroll your child in his new school, you will have to take certain steps. The rules differ depending on whether your child is enrolled in a public, private or family school.

if you wish, your child can complete the school year at the school he or she attended before the change of residence under conditions.
In public school
If your child has more than 3 years, you must enroll in an educational institution within 8 days who follow the change of residence.
Step-by-step approach
You must notify the head of the school where the child is attending. She then gives you a certificate of cancelation.
You must register your child at the mayor's office of your new home.
You must provide the following:
- Document proving your identity and that of your child (family booklet, identity card, passport, copy of birth certificate or attestation on honor)
- Recent proof of residence. You can provide an attestation on honor.
The town hall then delivers you a certificate of registration indicating the school where the child is assigned. This is usually the school closest to your home.

To permanently enroll your child, you must present yourself to the management of the new school with the following documents:
- Certificate of expungement issued by the management of the old school
- Certificate of registration issued by the City Hall
- Family booklet or birth certificate the child or any other document proving his or her identity and filiation,
- Document certifying that the child has received the compulsory vaccinations

In private school

Instruction in the family
If your child follows education in the family, you must report the change of residence to the Dasen: titleContent. You have to do it within 8 days that follow your move.
If your child was enrolled in a school before your move, you must seek permission from the Dasen to attend the family instruction.
