Have you worked in the public and private sectors and contributed to several pension funds? The increase in the duration of insurance for children is granted by a single pension fund under different conditions depending on the pension funds you have covered.

How many additional child pension insurance quarters are awarded?

If you have children, your life insurance (commonly called number of quarters) is increased according to rules that vary according to the pension plans:

  • As mother, 4 quarters additional for each child, to compensate for the effect on your retirement of maternity leave during which you no longer contribute to retirement
  • As parent (parent) 4 quarters additional for each child, to compensate for the effects of his education on your professional career. The parents shall agree on the beneficiary of the increase or, where appropriate, define the distribution between them of these quarters.

As a mother, you can accumulate up to 8 additional quarters.

Which pension fund provides you with the additional child pension insurance quarters?

If you have contributed successively, alternately or simultaneously to several plans and are therefore « polypensioner », the increase in the duration of insurance is granted by 1 single scheme according to rules variable according to the schemes concerned.

You contributed to Social Security Pension Insurance

Additional quarters of pension insurance are granted by Social Security Pension Insurance if the following 2 conditions are met:

  • You contributed to Social Security Pension Insurance
  • You have also contributed successively, alternately or simultaneously to one or more of the following plans:
    • MSA
    • SSI
    • National Pension Fund for the Old Age Security of Professional Persons (CNAVPL)
    • Caisse nationale des barreaux français (CNBF)
    • Pension fund for old-age disability and cult sickness (Cavimac)

You have contributed to the special retirement and pension plan for clerics and notary employees (CRPCEN)

At least 15 years

Additional quarters of pension insurance are provided by the Clerics and Notaries' Pension and Provident Fund (CRPCEN).

Under 15

Additional quarters of pension insurance are granted under varying conditions depending on the contribution terms to the CNRP and one or more of the following plans:

  • Social Security Pension Insurance
  • MSA
  • SSI
  • National Pension Fund for the Old Age Security of Professional Persons (CNAVPL)
  • Caisse nationale des barreaux français (CNBF)
  • Pension fund for old-age disability and cult sickness (Cavimac)

If your term of coverage at the NCCRB is the longest, the additional quarters of pension coverage are provided by the NCCRB.

If your term of insurance in another plan is longer than your term of insurance in the CNRP, the additional quarters of pension insurance are granted by that other plan.

If your term of insurance under several other plans is longer than your term of insurance under the NCCRB, the following plan provides additional quarters of pension insurance:

  • Social Security pension insurance if you have contributed to this plan
  • A plan to which you contributed last, or, in the case of concurrent contributions, a plan that grants you the highest pension if you contributed to one or more of the following plans: MSA, SSI, CNAVPL, CNBF, Cavimac

You have contributed to a special plan other than the NCCRB

Additional quarters of pension insurance are provided by your special plan.

However, they may be granted by Social Security Pension Insurance in the following cases:

  • You are not entitled to additional child pension insurance quarters from your special plan (such as if you retired before the child was born or the additional child pension insurance quarters are implemented in your special plan)
  • Your Special Retirement Plan does not provide for additional quarters of Child Pension Insurance (Sailor and Mining)
  • You are not entitled to a pension from your special pension plan under its own rules

You did not contribute to Social Security Pension Insurance or a special plan

If you have contributed to one or more of the following plans, the additional pension insurance quarters are provided by the plan to which you have contributed last :

  • MSA
  • SSI
  • National Pension Fund for the Old Age Security of Professional Persons (CNAVPL)
  • Caisse nationale des barreaux français (CNBF)
  • Pension fund for old-age disability and cult sickness (Cavimac)

If you contributed simultaneously in many of these plans, the additional pension insurance quarters are provided by the plan that assigns you the highest pension.
