Housing for rent: what should the real estate listing indicate?

Verified 06 June 2025 - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

The content of a real estate listing for the rental (or sub-rental) of a dwelling with a residential lease (including mobility lease) must comply with certain rules. These rules vary according to the author of the advertisement (owner of the dwelling or real estate agency), and the municipality where the dwelling is located. We'll explain.

The municipalities to which specific rules apply are: Paris, Bordeaux, Lille (Hellemmes and Lomme), Lyon (and Villeurbanne) Montpellier and the intercommunalités d'Est ensemble, of Common plain, of Basque Country, and a part of the territory of Grenoble-Alpes Metropole.
