Declaration of pregnancy

Verified 15 September 2022 - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

Is your pregnancy confirmed? You should have a first prenatal check-up with your doctor (general practitioner or gynecologist) or midwife.

You must declare your pregnancy before the end of 3e months of pregnancy to benefit as soon as possible from the treatment of your pregnancy by maternity insurance.

In addition, this declaration allows for the payment of future family benefits.

Finally, remember to update your vital card.

You should have a first prenatal check-up with your doctor (general practitioner or gynecologist) or midwife.

After this examination, your doctor or midwife will declare you pregnant online. This declaration may also be made by sending a paper form.

Depending on the method of declaration chosen by the doctor or midwife, you may or may not have to take a step.

You depend on the CNAM

Your doctor or midwife completes your pregnancy declaration online and uploads it directly to your health insurance fund and your family allowance fund (CAF).

You don't have a form to fill out or any mail to send. The declaration of your pregnancy is immediately registered by your health insurance fund and your family allowance fund (Cf).

On receipt, the social security body sends you a document detailing all your rights and indicates whether you can benefit from a social security deferral. This postponement is at your request.

You depend on the MSA

The declaration of pregnancy can be made online by your doctor, if he offers it to you and with your consent.

If you are a farmer, you benefit from a systematic postponement of the time taken to pay your social security contributions.

You depend on the MSA

The declaration of pregnancy is given to you by your GP, gynecologist or midwife at the first prenatal examination confirming that you are pregnant.

In order to benefit from all your rights, you must send your declaration of pregnancy within the first 14 weeks or before the end of the 3e month.

To do this, send your MSA the "first prenatal medical examination" form (pink slip of the declaration) to cover your medical expenses.

The two blue sheets in this document are also to be sent to your MSA, if you choose it for the payment of your family benefits.
