How do I apply for a proxy vote?

Will you be absent on June 9? You can give a power of attorney to a registered voter to vote for you. Service-Public.fr explains.

The European elections will be held on sunday, june 9, 2024 and will take place in one round. If you are absent or unable to travel to the polling station, you can give power of attorney to someone you trust.

You can choose the person of your choice. It has to be on the voters list. In the context of the European elections, you can appoint a european citizen.

On the day of the vote, the person you have designated will have to surrender at your polling station to vote for you.

You can submit your power of attorney request online or via a paper form.

Warning  

you can give power of attorney at any time and up to one day before the poll. However, it is advisable to do so as soon as possible in order to ensure that the power of attorney is taken into account by your municipality.

specific features shall apply to voters in New Caledonia.

How to apply for a power of attorney online?

To apply for a power of attorney online, you must:

  • go to the online service Power of Attorney and connect via FranceConnect;
  • Enter an email address.
  • seize your voting commune;
  • fill in the information of the elector to whom you provide power of attorney (you must know his date of birth, his first names, his name, the commune where he votes);
  • go to a police station, gendarmerie or a place welcoming the public with a proof of identity and the e-mail indicating the reference of your request.

You will receive a request receipt by e-mail, and then a validation or invalidation of your power of attorney.

How to make a power of attorney request via a paper form?

To make a power of attorney request using a paper form, you can:

  • fill in Cerfa form No 14952*03 at home and print (on 2 sheets, no double-sided);
  • or fill out a form on the spot at a police station, gendarmerie, judicial court or a place welcoming the public (defined by the prefect).

In both cases, you will need to:

  • present yourself in person at a police station, gendarmerie, court or public place (defined by the prefect);
  • present you with the completed form and proof of identity;
  • indicate your national voter number;
  • enter the surnames, forenames, date of birth and national number of elector of the person to whom you issue the power of attorney;

A receipt will be provided.

You can find your national voter number on your electoral map or on the online service " Questioning your electoral situation ” available on Service-Public.fr. This online service also allows you to find your current powers of attorney (those you have made or are responsible for).
