The Disabled Adult Allowance (DAA) provides a minimum income guarantee for people with disabilities. The amount depends on the family situation, the professional situation and the resources of the beneficiary. A decree of 28 December 2022 changes the method of calculating this allowance for persons living in a couple.

What is deconjugalization of AAH?

From 1er october 2023as specified in the decree of 11 May 2023, the reform of the decoupling of the allowance for disabled adults (AAH) changes how this allocation is calculated.

For people living in a couple, only the beneficiary and his or her personal resources will be taken into account in calculating the benefit, unless it is unfavorable to him.

This measure will mean more support for nearly 120,000 persons with disabilities living as a couple.

If the deconjugalized calculation proves to be less favorable than the old method of calculation, the reform guarantees the maintenance of the initial amount of the allowance (taking into account the spouse's resources).

FYI

the first payment of the deconjugalized AAH will be for the October 2023 entitlements and will be effective in early November 2023.
