To set up your carte grise certificate of registration), you will have to justify your home. The documents supporting it differ depending on your situation.

If you live in metropolis, you must provide proof of domicile or use Address Reason device . Address Reason

If you live in overseas, you must provide proof of domicile.

You live in mainland France

You must provide proof of domicile or use Address Reason device.

Address Reason automatically checks your address when you make the carte grise online request.

If you are not using Justif'Address, prepare a scanned version of a proof of domicile to make the application online.

The following documents are accepted depending on your situation.

You have a proof of address in your name

You can justify your home with one of these documents:

  • Gas, electricity, water or telephone bills (fixed or mobile) less than 6 months
  • Notice of taxation or non-taxation of the preceding year (income tax, housing tax or property tax)
  • Lease less than 6 months
  • Title of ownership or lease
  • Certification of housing insurance

  Warning : the proof of domicile must indicate your name and your first name, otherwise it might not be accepted. You will then be considered as staying with a third party.

You live with your parents

You must have all subsequent parts :

  • Copy of parent ID
  • Copy of a proof of domicile of the parent in his or her name (title, tax notice, gas, electricity, water or telephone bill...)
  • Certificate of Honour, co-signed by you and the parent hosting you

Accommodation certificate

You are hosted by a third party

You must have all subsequent parts :

  • Copy of host ID
  • Copy of a proof of domicile of the host in his name (title of property, tax notice, gas, electricity, water or telephone bill ...)

  • Certificate of employment issued by the undertaking operating the vessel (legal domicile constituted at the head office of the undertaking)

You are an association or trade union

You must have one of the following documents:

  • Lease on behalf of the association or union
  • Title of ownership on behalf of the association or trade union
  • Gas, electricity, landline or mobile phone bill less than 6 months on behalf of the association or trade union

You are a company or legal entity, civil, industrial or commercial

You must have one of the following documents:

  • Company Rent Receipt
  • Title of ownership on behalf of the company
  • Gas, electricity, landline or mobile phone bill less than 6 months on behalf of the company
  • Kbis Extract

You live overseas

You must provide proof of domicile.
