Settle solar panels on the floor? City planning clearance is required or not depending on the height of the installation relative to the ground and its peak power (i.e. the maximum power delivered by the panel).

In a protected area

You must apply for city planning authorisation when settling solar panels on the ground at:

  • Perimeter of a remarkable heritage site
  • Approaches to a historical monument
  • Listed
  • Natural reserves
  • Spaces to be classified in the heart of a future national park
  • Inside the heart of the delimited national parks

If the peak power of your installation is less than 3 kW, you must prior declaration of work.

Beyond 3 kW, you have to request a building permit.
