On the day of the vote, you must present your electoral map at the polling station. But if you no longer have it, you can vote by presenting only one identity document.
To obtain an electoral map, you must be registered to vote.
Registration on the electoral lists may be made:
- automatically, such as registration ex officio of a young person who is 18 years of age
- or voluntary
- or as a result of removal
- or as a result of obtaining French nationality.
You can check your voter registration and know your polling station using this online service:
The electoral card is sent by mail to your home no later than 3 days before the 1er election round (or referendum).
But a young person who turns 18 can receive his electoral card during a citizenship ceremony organized by the mayor.
If your electoral map was not distributed to you before the election or referendum, it is kept at the polling station. You can retrieve it by presenting a identity document.
The electoral map shall indicate the following information:
- Name of the voter
- First names of the voter
- Address of residence
- Voter's date of birth
- National Voter Number
- Voter's polling place

the signature of the mayor or the stamp of the town hall are optional. The voter's signature is also not required.

It is recommended that you show your electoral map at the time of the vote.
But if you don't have it, you can still vote.
On the day of the vote, the documents to be presented to be able to vote depend on the size of the commune:
1,000 inhabitants or more
You can vote by presenting:
- Let's say one identity document + your electoral map
- Let's say one identity document only
If you have been registered by a court order, you must also submit this document.
Less than 1,000 inhabitants
You can vote by presenting:
- Let's say one identity document and your electoral map
- Let's say one identity document only
- Be your electoral map only
If you have been registered by a court order (especially in case of administrative error), you must also present this document.
The card is valid until it is replaced by the next one.
All electoral cards are renewed in early 2022.
Reminder
the electoral card is sent by mail to your home no later than 3 days before the 1er election round (or referendum).
The new maps are drawn up during the recasting of the electoral lists, generally every 3 to 5 years.
To replace your card, you can get a certificate of registration on the list of electors.
To do this, you can:
- request it at the municipality of the municipality where you are registered
