Parental presence leave in the public service

Are you a public servant and you have a disabled, injured or sick child? Parental absence allows you to stop or reduce your work activity to provide care. We present you all the information regarding this leave.

What is parental leave?
Parental presence leave is a leave in which you can reduce or stop your professional activity to take care of a dependent child, sick, injured or disabled, who needs your sustained presence and compulsory care.
Who can benefit from parental leave?
Parental absence may be granted to father or mother child.
How do I request parental leave?
You must send a written request to your employer administration, at least 15 days before the start of the leave (or before the end of your current leave in case of a renewal application).
In the event of a sudden deterioration of your child's health or in the event of a crisis situation requiring your immediate presence, this 15-day period does not apply.
Your request for leave must be accompanied by a medical certificate that attests to the severity of your child's illness, accident or disability, and to your need for ongoing care.
This certificate is issued by the doctor who follows your child and specifies the expected duration of the treatment.
How long is parental leave?
Parental absence is granted for the duration of the treatment of your child as defined in the medical certificate (established by the doctor following the child, and attached to the request for leave).
When the child's treatment period is reviewed again, you must send a new medical certificate to your employer authority.
The maximum period of parental leave shall be 310 working days within a 3-year period for the same child and the same pathology.
If you have completed 310 days of leave before the end of the 3-year period, your leave may be renewed 1 time for the same disease, disability or accident which your child suffers for up to 310 days in a new period of 3 years.
The 3-year period is counted from the initial date of the start of your leave.
At the end of a 3-year period, you may be granted a new leave, upon presentation of a new medical certificate, in the following situations:
- New Pathology Affecting Your Child
- Relapse or recurrence of the initially treated disease
- When the severity of your child's illness initially treated always requires your continued presence and mandatory care

Parental absence shall not be paid.
But you benefit from Daily Parental Attendance Allowance (AJPP).
What are the effects of parental leave on your career and retirement?
Parental leave days are treated as full-time days of work for the purpose of calculating your promotion, promotion and training entitlements.
Time spent on parental leave shall be taken into account in calculating your pension insurance term up to the limit of 3 years per child if your child was born or adopted from 2004.
How did you get reinstated at the end of your leave?
During your parental leave, you remain assigned to your job.
If your job is deleted or transformed, you are assigned to a job that corresponds to your grade closest to your previous workplace.
But you can request an assignment in a job closer to your home.
You can ask to end your leave before the scheduled date if your household's resources are reduced.
You must inform your administration at least 15 days in advance.

Periods of parental leave shall be taken into account for the old-age insurance of the homemaker (Avpf).
The Caf: titleContent automatically takes care of your membership and pays the old-age insurance contributions.
How did you get reinstated at the end of your leave?
