Your child is enrolled in high school and you wonder if you are entitled to the high school scholarship?

To benefit from it, your annual resources must not exceed ceilings, depending on the number of children you have to care for.

The amount of the high school scholarship varies according to your resources and expenses.

We present you with the information you need to know.

There are educational and resource requirements.

Conditions related to schooling

Your child must be registered and receive training in a public or private contracted institution. They must follow one of the following courses:

  • 2nde, 1re or terminal (leading to a baccalaureate or technician's certificate)
  • Certificate of Professional Competence (CAP)
  • Secondary school class
  • Class of 3rd "pre-trades"

Your child can also be enrolled at the National Center for Distance Learning (Cned).

You must reside in France.

The resources taken into account for the 2023-2024 school year correspond to 2023 income tax notice 2022 benchmark tax income.

The grant has 6 steps, which take into account the number of dependent children component of your household and the household resources not to be exceeded.

FYI  

If you lose the child's care in the course of the year, the grant payment is withdrawn. The entitlement of the new person responsible for the child to the grant is then examined.

Student educated in the public sector

You must apply if you are:

  • Your child is in third grade school and will be entering high school next fall
  • Your child is already a high school student and does not yet receive the scholarship, but qualifies for it at the next school year.

You can apply online between 29 May and 5 July and between 1er september and october 19.

You can also apply by filling out a form and submitting it to the secretariat of your child's school. You can make this paper request between 29 May and 5 July and between 1er september and october 19.

The property will provide you with an acknowledgement.

Application for a national high school scholarship - Year 2023-2024

Warning  

you can apply online only if you have not submitted a paper application.

Student attending a private contract school

You must complete your application using a form and submit it to the secretariat of the institution where your child is registered. You can make this paper request between 29 May and 5 July and between 1er september and october 19.

The property will provide you with an acknowledgement.

Student at the National Center for Distance Learning (Cned)

You have to fill out your application using a form.

Application for a national high school scholarship - Year 2023-2024

You must then send this form to the National Scholarships Department of the Academy of Schooling.

Who shall I contact

You can make this paper request between 29 May and 5 July and between 1er september and october 19.

Student applying to enter a military high school

The schools concerned are:

  • Lycée militaire de Saint-Cyr-l'École
  • Lycée militaire d'Aix-en-Provence
  • Autun Military High School
  • Prytanée national militaire de La Flèche
  • Lycée naval de Brest
  • Grenoble School of Air wards

You need to get closer to the military high school where you are applying for the scholarship application process.

If you receive the scholarship since the 2021 or 2022 school year, you will continue to automatically receive it for the 2023-2024 year.

If you are already a fellow and your situation has changed significantly, you do not have to apply for a new scholarship. So, if you redouble, change direction, or change the resources of your tax shelter decrease or increase, you need to get closer to your school. They will tell you what to do.

Warning  

an adult or enfranchised student can apply for a scholarship if he or she is not attached to his or her parents' tax home.

If your scholarship application has been refused, you have 15 free days after notification of refusal to make an appeal.

Your appeal must be addressed to the Rectorate of the Academy or to the Directorate of the Departmental Services of National Education (Dsden). This depends on where the mutual scholarship service (rectorate or Dsden) is managed.

You will receive the decision of this appeal, indicating either a grant agreement or a refusal.

In case of a second refusal, you can, within 2 months of receiving this letter, appeal to the Minister of National Education or contact the administrative tribunal in legal proceedings.

Please note

all relevant information, both in terms of scholarships and social funds, will be provided by the secretariat of the institution attended by the student.

For the 2023-24 school year, the high school scholarship comprises 6 steps according to your situation.

It is paid in 3 installments, at the end of each quarter.

Please note

if you are between 16 and 18 years of age, have abandoned your training and wish to return to vocational studies, you will be eligible for a grant supplement under certain conditions. Check with your institution's secretariat to see if you are eligible.

College level class in an Erea

Students attending a middle-school class at a regional adapted educational institution (Érea) may receive a secondary school scholarship which may not exceed €226 by quarter.
