Driving license: what is a white license?

You can ask the judge to grant you a blank permit in case of judicial suspension your driver's license.

The white license consists of to adjust the judicial suspension to allow you to retain your right to drive for your work or for serious reasons medical or family.

However, you cannot have blank permit if you have committed any of the infringements following:

  • Manslaughter, unintentional injuries
  • Driving under the influence of a alcoholic state
  • Driving after using products narcotics, irrespective of the quantity absorbed
  • Endangering the lives of others
  • Great excess speed of 50 km/h or more
  • Hit and Run

Get a blank permit is not a right.

So you have to provide the judge with the documents justifying your request.

Submit your request of white licenses:

  • To the President of the police court if you have committed a contravention
  • To the President of the correctional court if you made a offense.

If the judge gives you a blank permit, the duration of the judicial suspension of the driving license is elongated.

Example :

The judge ordered a 4-month suspension of your license. You applied for and got a blank license. The suspension of your license could then be 6 months but with the possibility to drive for your professional activity.

Please note

the white license concerns only the judicial suspension driver's license. No statutory instrument provides for a blank permit for the administrative suspension decided by the prefect.
