Point driver's license: how to make a claim?

If you have been the victim of identity theft, you can file a complaint with the Ministry of the Interior.

You can make the claim online or by post.

Attach your claim to the copy of the judgment acknowledging the impersonation and mentioning the infringements concerned.

If you have no judgment, you must complain before making a claim.

If you withdraw points, you will receive a letter to inform you.

You may have lost some of your points or all your points (invalidation of the license).

In the 2 cases, you can make a administrative appeal to the Ministry of the Interior and/or a contentious appeal before the administrative court.

Driving license: check points and statements

The driving license file number (or NEPH) is 5 to 19 characters long and can be found on the following documents:

• Your driving license
• Your certificate of driving rights provided by theANTS: titleContent following a declaration of loss. The NEPH number is indicated in the "Characteristics of the driving license" (No) field.
• Letters you have received informing you of the loss or recovery of points on your license. The NEPH number is indicated at the top left ("Your file number") or at the top.
• Your restricted information statement (RIR) or full information statement (RII) if you have already requested it, via the internet or in the prefecture. The NEPH number shall be entered in the box ‘Driving license number’.

If you have lost points on your license, you can recover them by following a road safety awareness course subject to conditions.

This course allows you to recover up to 4 points per year.

You can do a maximum internship per year.

The organization where you completed the internship sends your probationary certificate to the department responsible for its investigation within 15 days.

The reconstructing points takes effect when this service register the probationary certificate, in a 1-month period upon receipt of the probationary certificate.

You will receive an email or a letter to inform you.
