Nursery

The nurseries welcome children under certain conditions (age, prior request for registration...). Children are the responsibility of qualified professionals. There are different types of establishments: group, family, parenting, company nurseries.

Collective crèche

The group nursery can usually accommodate up to 60 children.

It is managed by a territorial authority (municipality, department services...) or by a private manager (for example, an association).

The nursery is under the control and supervision of the Department of Maternal and Child Protection (PMI).

Who shall I contact

Children are looked after by a team. It includes:

  • Director (nursery, doctor, early childhood educator)
  • Professionals (including childcare assistants and early childhood educators)

The number of professionals shall be determined in accordance with one of the following rules:

  • 1 professional for 6 children
  • 1 professional for 5 children who do not walk and 1 professional for 8 children who walk

Their mission is to ensure the health, safety, well-being and development of the children entrusted to them.

The institution shall contribute to their education in accordance with parental authority.

Times often correspond to office hours.

  FYI : the micro-crèche welcomes fewer children (up to 12). It is subject to less stringent rules (e.g. no director).

Family nursery

The family nursery employs approved maternal assistants which take 1 to 4 children into their home.

Once or twice a week, the maternal assistants and the children meet in the premises of the family nursery to promote the socialisation of the children and their awakening.

The maternal assistants are supervised and accompanied by the staff of the nursery (nursery, doctor...).

The family nursery is managed by a territorial authority (municipality, department services...) or by a private manager (for example, an association).

It can generally accommodate up to 60 children.

Children are cared for by qualified staff (e.g., child carers, child carers).

The nursery is generally located close to the company, sometimes on its premises.

The reception hours are flexible to meet professional constraints.

To be admitted to a nursery, your child must meet the following 2 conditions:

  FYI : a guaranteed number of places is fixed by institution for parents in social or professional integration. This number may not be less than one place per 20 seats.

Pre-enrolment before birth

Before the birth of your child, it is recommended to make a pre-registration in several nurseries at the level of the municipality and the department.

You can also contact the person in charge of the establishment of your choice upon confirmation of pregnancy.

Before pre-registering, you should contact the following:

  • Early childhood service of the town hall
  • Department Services
  • Director of the institution of your choice

This first contact allows you to obtain information on the registration and the list of documents to be provided to build the file.

  Warning : some crèches do not accept any pre-registration until 6e month of pregnancy.

You pay the nursery a financial contribution that varies according to your resources and your family situation.

Childcare expenses for children under 6 years of age are subject to tax credit.
