You can now finance your motorcycle license with your CPF

The Personal Training Account (PTA) is now used to finance all categories of driving licenses for land-based motor vehicles. To be covered by the CPF, the license in question must be an element that allows you to keep your job or is part of the realization of a professional project you have.

Until then, you could use your CPF to finance your preparation for the highway code examination, as well as the practical tests for driving licenses, public transport or heavy goods vehicles.

As of January 12, 2024, you can also use it to fund your training for the theoretical and practical tests of driving licenses:

  • light or powerful motorcycles;
  • small cars;
  • light vehicles towing heavy trailers.

To subscribe to this type of training, you must go to the website moncompteformation.gouv.fr ; you must create an account there if you do not already have one. You can then find on this site training offers published by driving schools, as well as by organizations with a prefectural license “for the teaching of driving for a fee and for raising awareness of road safety”.

However, you still cannot finance with your CPF:

  • a driving upgrade;
  • a point recovery course;
  • driving hours allowing you to switch from using a manual gearbox to an automatic gearbox, or vice versa;
  • 7-hour training which allows holders of the B license to drive two-wheelers or three-wheelers.

Reminder

the law of 21 June 2023 on facilitating the passing and obtaining of the driving license examination opened up CPF funding to all preparations for driving licenses for land motor vehicles. This possibility was to come into effect on 1er January 2024. Finally, registration for this type of training was only possible as of 12 January for technical reasons of implementation (exchanges between driving schools and the My Training Account service...).

What are the conditions for financing your license with the CPF?

To be able to train and obtain a driving license under the CPF:

  • you must make an honor commitment that the driver's license you are passing will be a means of entering or remaining in a certain professional universe (this training cannot therefore be carried out if you intend to make only subsequent trips in a non-professional setting);
  • you must not be subject to a suspension of your driving license or a prohibition on applying for a driving license.

each year, your personal training account is funded in euros or hours according to your status; you can, depending on your rights, purchase the training that corresponds to your professional project and thus acquire new skills. The CPF is a public facility that enables every worker to train throughout their working life.
