Cost of higher education enrollment

Are you a student and have questions about higher education fees?
Registration fees for the preparation of national Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate (LMD) degrees are fixed annually at national level.
You must also pay a student and campus life contribution (CVEC) of €103.
In some cases, you may be exempt from registration fees and CVEC.

General case
To enroll in a higher education institution to prepare a degree, you must pay a tuition fee.
You are preparing several degrees
In the same establishment
If you are enrolled in the same institution to prepare several diplomas, you must pay:
- on 1er tuition at full tuition fees,
- then the other fees at the reduced rate of registration fees.
By way of derogation, if you are authorized, without having fully validated one year of study, to enroll in another year of study, you must pay only the tuition fees provided for that last year.
In different establishments
If you are enrolled in more than one institution to prepare several different degrees at the same time, you must pay a tuition fee for each degree.
If these tuition fees have different rates, the tuition fee paid first is the one with the highest amount.
By way of derogation, if you are authorized, without having fully validated one year of study, to enroll in another year of study, you must pay only the tuition fees provided for that last year.
Bachelor's, master's, doctorate...
Registration in a public BTS does not give rise to the payment of registration fees.
Tuition fees for public agricultural higher education establishments and those under the Ministry of Culture and Communication are set by specific decrees.
Educational institutions may also issue their own diplomas. They then set the fees freely. You need to contact them to find out the amount.
Diplomas in medicine, pharmacy, odontology, maieutics and paramedics
Enrollment Transfer
If you transfer your registration between 2 establishments, a sum of €23 is retained by the 1er establishment for the management of registration and its transfer.
If this transfer occurs at the end of 1er half or more of the tuition fees are paid to the new host institution.
Settlement
Registration fees must be paid at once.
However, the establishments can offer you a payment of the fees in 3 times. Ask for more information at the hotel.
What is CVEC?
The amount of the CVEC for the 2024-25 season is €103.
Payment of the contribution
You are connecting to CVEC.student.gouv.fr after you have created your account on MyServices.student.gouv.fr (the site CVEC.student.gouv.fr is accessible via MyServices.student.gouv.fr).
You can also pay in cash at a post office counter. A payment notice will be issued immediately.
Please note
if you enroll in more than one course for the same academic year, you only pay the CVEC once in the 1re registration.
Attestation
You can obtain a CVEC certificate of acquittal once your account is complete www.CVEC.etudiant.gouv.fr created.
You must present it to your higher education institution at the time of registration.
If the registration process at your institution is done online, you will be asked to provide the attestation number.
If your registration process is physical, you must present your certificate (on smartphone or in print, depending on the establishment) at the time of registration.
Claim for reimbursement
If you drop out after paying the CVEC or if you drop out of school during the year, you will not be able to get a refund of this contribution.
The student social security scheme was permanently abolished on 31 August 2019.
All students are affiliates the compulsory sickness insurance scheme.
Scholar
If you are a French government scholar or ward of the nation, you are exempt from registration fees.

You have a conditional scholarship notification
If you perceive scholarship on social criteria or a annual specific allowanceHowever, you can apply for a CVEC exemption.
You must obtain a certificate of acquittal from the CVEC before enrolling at your institution of higher education.

If you are exempt and have a conditional grant notification, the site MyServices.student.gouv.fr automatically recognizes your exemption. You immediately download your certificate of acquittal.

If your registration process is physical, you must present your certificate (on smartphone or in print, depending on the establishment) at the time of registration.

You don't have it
You must pay the CVEC after you have created your account MyServices.student.gouv.fr. Then apply for a refund.
Depending on the payment method, you can download the certificate immediately (online payment) or after 2 days (cash payment). You will then need to provide the attestation to get a refund.
You must present the certificate to your institution of higher education at the time of registration.
If the registration process at your institution is done online, you will be asked to provide the attestation number.
If your registration process is physical, you must present your certificate (on smartphone or in print, depending on the establishment) at the time of registration.
If you drop out after paying the CVEC or if you drop out of school during the year, you will not be able to get a refund of this contribution.
If you meet 1 CVEC payment exemption condition during the academic year, you will be eligible for a CVEC refund. You will need to apply by May 31 of the current year on the site www.CVEC.etudiant.gouv.fr.

Exemption from registration fees
At your request, you can benefit from an exemption.
Exemption decisions shall be taken by the President of the establishment, in accordance with criteria laid down by the Establishment Council, within the limits of 10% enrolled students (excluding scholarship students and wards of the Nation).
You must obtain a certificate of discharge from the CVEC before enrolling in your institution of higher education.
If you are refugee, beneficiary of subsidiary protection or registered as asylum seeker and entitled to remain in the country, you can apply online for an exemption.

You certify that you are a refugee, a beneficiary of judicial protection or an asylum seeker, then download the supporting document and send your application.
After 2 working daysYes, you get an answer. If it's positive, you're exempt. If it is negative, you will be contacted by the Crous.
