The classification of a weapon may change after it has been purchased.

For example, you purchased a weapon classified as category C which is subsequently upgraded to category B.

If you have an upgraded weapon, you can keep it if you meet the conditions corresponding to new weapon-holding regime.

When upgrade results in the requirement to have an authorization to hold the gun, you must ask this authorisation in a six-month period following the entry into force of the upgrade of the weapon.

If the authorization is refused, you must relinquish the weapon.

You must have :

  • a valid sport shooting license for that weapon, if the weapon was classified as category B (B2° or B4°) before upgrading,
  • or your original declaration receipt, if the weapon was classified as category C before his upgrade.

You can continue to buy the corresponding ammunition on presentation of this title to the dealer.

If you acquired an automatic repeat firearm that was converted to a 1-shot or manual repeat firearm after 1er november 2021, you You have to divest yourself of it.

The acquisition and possession of this weapon, classified as Category A (A1-11°), is forbidden.
