You can also apply for authorization to perform a public interest mission of international cooperation or with international public interest bodies or a foreigner.
This ancillary activity may or may not be remunerated.
You can perform this activity as a micro-entrepreneur.
Before starting your activity, you must send a written request to your employer's administration with the following information:
- Identity and nature of the body for which you intend to carry out your activity in the public interest
- Nature, duration, periodicity and conditions of remuneration of this ancillary activity
You may attach any other relevant information to your application for authorization to carry out this ancillary activity.
Your employer administration acknowledges receipt of your request.
If your employer administration considers that it does not have all the necessary information to respond to your request, it will ask you to complete it within 15 days of receiving your request.
Your employer administration will send you its decision within one month of receiving your request.
In the absence of a written decision within this period, your request for authorization to cumulate activities shall be considered refused.
The decision to authorize the proposed ancillary activity may include reservations and recommendations aimed at ensuring compliance with your ethical obligations and the normal functioning of the service.
The decision states that the ancillary activity can only be performed outside your working hours.
Your employer administration may refuse your request for the cumulation of activities or oppose your continuing to exercise it for the following reasons:
- This is justified by the interest of the service
- The information you provided during your request is incorrect
- This combination of activities is incompatible with your duties, given your ethical obligations
Any substantial change in the conditions governing the exercise or remuneration of your ancillary activity shall be treated as a new activity and shall be the subject of a new application for authorization.
You can ask your employer's authority for permission to perform an ancillary personal service activity.
Personal services include:
- Childcare
- Household or family tasks performed at the person's home
- Assistance to the elderly, disabled persons or other persons who need personal assistance at home or mobility assistance to help them stay at home
You must exercise this activity as a micro-entrepreneur.

You can freely exercise the volunteer trustee duties of the condominium in which you are the owner yourself.
If you are admitted to a public service competition and you were previously an officer of a business or for-profit association, you can continue to be an officer for 1 year from the date of your recruitment to the public service.
This also applies if you are hired as a contract employee in the public service.
The duration of one year is renewable once a year.
You must submit a written statement to your employer administration as soon as you are appointed as a probationary employee or before your contract is signed.
Your statement refers to the form and purpose of the company or association, its sector and industry.
You can freely engage in volunteer activity for the benefit of a public or private non-profit organization.
You can freely exercise an artistic or creative activity.
You must respect the copyright rules.
You can freely create the following works:
- Books, brochures and other literary, artistic and scientific literature
- Lectures, speeches, sermons, oral arguments and other similar works
- Dramatic or dramatic musical works
- Choreographic works, circus numbers and rounds, pantomimes the implementation of which is fixed in writing or otherwise
- Musical compositions with or without words
- Cinematographic works and other works consisting of animated sequences of images, whether or not with sound, called audiovisual works
- Works of drawing, painting, architecture, sculpture, engraving, lithography
- Graphic and typographical works
- Photographic works and works made using techniques similar to photography
- Works of Applied Arts
- Illustrations, maps
- Plastic plans, sketches and works relating to geography, topography, architecture and science
- Software, including pre-build hardware
- Creations of the seasonal clothing and adornment industries
From December 30, 2022 to December 29, 2025, you can apply to your employer authority for authorization to engage in a paid ancillary activity as a school bus driver.
Before starting your activity, you must send a written request to your employer's administration with the following information:
- Identity of the employer or nature of the organization for which you intend to carry out your activity as a school bus driver
- Nature, duration, periodicity and conditions of remuneration of this ancillary activity
You may attach any other relevant information to your application for authorization to carry out this ancillary activity.
Your employer administration acknowledges receipt of your request.
If your employer administration considers that it does not have all the necessary information to respond to your request, it will ask you to complete it within 15 days of receiving your request.
Your employer administration will send you its decision within one month of receiving your request.
In the absence of a written decision within this period, your request for authorization to cumulate activities shall be considered refused.
You may not be granted authorization for a period beyond December 29, 2025.

Your employer's administration sends information to the transport organization (public or private) for which you are going to carry out your activity as a driver to ensure that you carry out your activity in accordance with the rules on working time, driving, breaks and rest.
