You must apply for a card if the intended stay is at least 1 year. If the period of stay is less than 1 year, a long-stay visa as residence permit (VL-TS) mention talent passport enough.
1st application

You must submit your application on the Internet, at the earliest 4 months and at the latest 2 months before the end of validity of your residence document (visa, VLS-TS or title).

- Long-stay visa or valid residence permit
- Passport (pages concerning civil status, validity dates, entry stamps and visas)

- Proof of domicile less than 6 months old
- 3 photos.

The prefecture confirms the availability of your residence card and the amount of the tax.
Step 6: Buy the tax stamp
If the residence card is given to you, you must pay €225 (stamp duty of €25 + tax €200) by tax stamps.
Proof of payment of stamp duty and tax is requested when the card is handed over.

- Your duties are directly related to the research and development project of this company

You can obtain a residence card talent passport - eu blue card - working as an employed person if you are a highly skilled worker.
You must meet the following 3 conditions:
- Have a diploma of at least 3 years of higher education or 5 years of professional experience of comparable level
- Have an employment contract of at least 1 year
- Have a gross annual remuneration of at least €53,836.50

this card is also granted if you have stayed at least 18 months in another EU countries with a European Blue Card. You must apply within the month of entering France.

- Up-to-date extract K bis, or up-to-date extract K or craftsman's card
- Certificate of payment of social contributions to the body responsible for their collection (and to the paid leave fund if necessary) submitted by your employer
- Proof of your qualifications and experience for the position (copy of diplomas and qualifications obtained, CVs, work certificates proving professional experience)
- If the activity is regulated : proof that the employer fulfills the conditions for exercising it (license, prior declaration of intervention to the regional directorate for cultural affairs, etc.)
- If the employment concerns a minor aged 16: copy of the employer's application for employment authorization

this card is also granted if you are a researcher in another country EU countries and that you come to carry out part of your work for more than 3 months in France. In this case, you do not need a long-stay visa.

- You have a degree at least equivalent to the master's
- You come to France to conduct research or provide university-level education

If you plan to travel to another EU country for your research, the agreement must specify your membership of a mobility program.
