Duration, steps to apply, course of the period: here is the information to know about the hyphenation.

Cessation is a period during which you temporarily suspend your higher education training to gain personal or professional experience.

The experience can therefore be paid or unpaid.

The hyphenation has to last at least 1 semester and maximum 2 semesters consecutive.

It must start at the same time as a university semester.

It can start as soon as you register in a course on the 1er cycle and shall be completed before the last six months of completion of this training.

Only one hyphenation per course of study is possible.

If your institution allows it, you can do several assignments during your university course.

If you want to interrupt the cut-off before the scheduled end, the President or Warden of the institution must agree to your reinstatement in the training.

Each higher education institution shall determine the following:

  • Timetable and procedure for requests for cessation
  • Documents to be attached to the application (e.g. CV, cover letter)
  • Organization of the pedagogical supervision and support of the student

The procedure differs according to the year of study during which you want to make a break.
