27e The European Week for Employment of People with Disabilities (SEEPH) takes place from Monday 20 to Sunday 26 November 2023. The objective of this event is to bring together companies, politicians, associations, civil business and job seekers with disabilities and to propose concrete actions to facilitate recruitment. This week is an opportunity to learn about the various measures put in place to facilitate the professional integration of persons with disabilities.

All over France, events will be organized to promote meetings between companies and jobseekers. You can consult the list of events.

The theme for this 2023 edition is "The Digital Transition: An Accelerator for Disability Employment?"

Several questions arise around the topic of digital transition:

  • what are the new forms of compensation for disability situations made possible by digital technology?
  • what digital accessibility (both good practices and ways for people with disabilities to access the new tools)?
  • what are the digital professions?
  • how can we make them known more and more?
  • what employment opportunities for persons with disabilities?

Employment in the private sector

People with disabilities can work:

  • in ordinary environments (for persons recognized as workers with disabilities, employers having to take measures adapted to their disability);
  • in adapted company (workers with disabilities working there under conditions appropriate to their abilities);
  • in establishment and labor support services (State). These facilities, which allow people to pursue a professional activity while receiving medical-social and educational support in a sheltered environment, host persons who do not have enough autonomy to be in an ordinary environment or in a suitable company.
  • What is the obligation to employ disabled workers? An employer with at least 20 employees must employ persons with disabilities as a proportion of 6% of the total workforce. The employment obligation concerns all employees regardless of the nature of their contract.
  • How to be recognized as a disabled worker (RQTH)? Recognition of the status of disabled worker (RQTH) provides access to a range of measures to support job retention or access to new employment.

Public sector employment

Persons with disabilities can take part in public service competitions and be accommodated to take the tests. They can also be recruited as a contractor and then be established at the end of their contract without having to take competitions.

Training and learning

Training of disabled persons: in addition to the general training arrangements, a disabled person may enter into an apprenticeship to obtain a qualification and benefit from special facilities, receive training in a pre-orientation center, receive a re-education contract or take a traineeship to reaccustom to his former job if he has become unfit to exercise his profession, or learn a new trade.
