Election dates

The decree summoning electors, published on April 26, 2022, sets the dates of the legislative elections.

Lists of electors: registration and verification of lists of electors

To be able to vote in the 2022 legislative elections, you must be registered to vote, except in exceptional cases, the online registration deadline was set at May 4, 2022. You can check your electoral situation using the online service available on Service-Public.fr. You have applied to be registered to vote but have not received any mail since. You checked your electoral situation but you are not registered to vote. What can you do to be able to vote? You can also check your office address on your electoral map.

Proxy voting (you are the principal)

Holidays, work obligations, training, health problems... Are you away from your home during the parliamentary elections? You can still vote by proxy without having to prove the reason!

Proxy voting (you are the proxy)

You got a power of attorney to vote? What formalities are to be known at the time of voting? And what happens if the power of attorney is not received? An instruction from the Ministry of Interior of December 31, 2021 tells you everything you need to know.

Conduct of the elections

The poll will be open at 8 a.m. and closed at 6 p.m. (local legal hours). However, in order to facilitate the exercise of the right to vote, by-laws may be issued in certain municipalities or administrative districts in order to bring forward the opening time or to delay the closing time of voting. Under no circumstances may the poll be closed after 8 p.m. (local legal time).

The decrees shall be published and posted in each commune, administrative district, embassy or consular post concerned at least five days before polling day.

Voter Card

What is the electoral map? Is it mandatory to vote? How do I get it? Service-Public.fr explains everything including its novelties.

Identification to be presented for voting

To vote, you must present yourself at the polling station indicated on the electoral map or on the online service Query your electoral situation. In municipalities with a population of 1,000 or more, it is necessary to present an identity document.

Change of address not reported or reported late

If you moved without reporting your change of address before May 4, you can still vote in your home municipality. In this case, it's best to check with your home town hall if you're still on its lists.

Voting by people with disabilities

If a disability or serious illness prevents you from traveling and you want to establish a power of attorney to vote, you can request that a police or gendarmerie staff move to your home or to a specialized facility (Ehpad, hospital...) to verify your identity. Persons with disabilities can vote directly at the polling station, which must be accessible to all as stipulated in the electoral code.

French settled abroad

Voters domiciled abroad can vote in parliamentary elections if they are on a consular voters list. However, it is possible for those who are registered only on a list of electors in France to vote in France, personally or by proxy.

To vote at a polling station abroad, you will soon find online the list of polling stations open at embassies and consular posts, and the list of offices whose closing time is delayed.

Voting rights of detainees

Being detained does not deprive you of the right to vote. Only those who have been denied the right to vote and to elect by the courts lose their electoral capacity.
