What is changing in February 2023

Money and consumption

Increase in the interest rate of Livret A to 3% and Livret d'affret populaire (LEP) to 6.1%. The increase in tariffs shall be limited to 15 % for electricity from 1er February 2023. End of winter sales on February 7.

Exceptionally, and in order to adapt the rate of wear and tear to the rapid rise in market rates, the Banque de France will carry out a monthly, rather than a quarterly, review of the rates of wear and tear of the 1er february to 1er July 2023. Wear rates will continue to be based on the average of the rates in the previous three months.

Work

For new jobseekers whose employment contract ended on or after 1er February 2023 (except when dismissal proceedings were initiated before that date), the duration of unemployment benefits depends on the labor market.

Transport

The fuel allowance of €100 for low-income workers must be claimed before February 28, 2023 on the website impots.gouv.fr. An average increase of 4.75% is expected in February 2023 on vehicle tolls. Taxi fares increase on 1er February... This is changing in transport.

Social-Health

End of work stoppages without waiting day, isolation of positive persons, testing of contact cases from 1er February 2023. With influenza virus circulation still active, the influenza vaccination campaign is being extended until 28 February 2023. COVID-19 vaccination is open to children 6 months to 4 years of age at risk of severe forms of COVID-19.

Several changes take place for the Renovation bonus from 1er February 2023.

Family

The 2023 winter school holidays start on Saturday 4 February for Zone A, 11 February for Zone B and 18 February for Zone C.

Citizenship Papers

The dates of the 2023 population census. For municipalities with less than 10 000 inhabitants: until 18 February; from 2 February to 4 March in Reunion and Mayotte. For municipalities with more than 10 000 inhabitants: until 25 February; from 2 February to 11 March in La Réunion and Mayotte. Opening of 500 new ticket offices throughout France to collect identity card or passport applications in order to increase the number of appointment slots in town halls.
