How to get a carte grise collection vehicle?

You can request a carte grise collection vehicle only if you own or purchase a vehicle that is over 30 years old, is no longer produced and has not changed its technical specifications.
You have a vehicle over 30 years old
If your vehicle is already registered in your name, you must ask for the "collection" on your carte grise.
You must attach to your application a certificate drawn up either by the manufacturer or his representative in France or by the French Federation of vintage vehicles (FFVE),
The
collection vehicle
is a vehicle over 30 years old, which is no longer produced and whose technical characteristics have not been modified.
Passage into a collection vehicle for the 30-year-old vehicle is neither automatic nor mandatory.
The
collection vehicle
allows the specific licence plates if desired (on a black background and without a territorial identifier). This entry is in the Z entry on the carte grise.
You can drive in France and at the foreigner with a collector's vehicle.
As regards technical control, the rules differ PTAC: titleContent vehicle.
PTAC of less than 3,5 tons
Vehicle put into circulation from 1960
The vehicle shall undergo a technical inspection every 5 years.
Vehicles put into circulation before 1960
No technical control
PTAC greater than 3.5 tons
The vehicle shall be exempt from technical inspection irrespective of the date of entry into service.
To obtain your "collection vehicle" carte grise, you must request it from a qualified automotive professional and approved by the State, either online using the following online service:

(with computers, printers and scanners) are available in every prefecture and in most sub-prefectures. You can do the process there. You can be helped by digital mediators if you encounter difficulties using the internet.
You can also be accompanied by a France Services establishment or a public service house:
it is no longer possible to request a carte grise from the prefecture or sub-prefecture.
You must have a digital copy (photo or scan) of the following documents:
Old carte grise, or if you don't have it, a part proving the origin of ownership of the vehicle
Certificate issued by the manufacturer or his representative in France or by the French Federation of vintage vehicles - FFVE (a template is available online)
For a vehicle of PTAC: titleContent less than or equal to 3,5 tons, technical inspection report less than 6 months if the vehicle
already benefits from the Collection vehicle and that it was put into circulation the first time from theto January 1960
or does not yet benefit from the Collection vehicle
If you do the walk for someone else, you must have a digital copy of the mandate signed and identification.
You must certify on the honour that the carte grise applicant has a vehicle insurance certificate and a driving licence corresponding to the category of the vehicle registered.
You do not have to attach a digital copy (photo or scan) of the driver's licence. But this can be requested when you are investigating your file.
An Interim Certificate of Registration (ICC), which you must print. The CPI allows you to move for 1 month only in France, waiting to receive your carte grise.
If your vehicle was registered in the form 123-AB-75, you will get a new registration registered in the Vehicle Registration System (SIV), in the form AB-123-CD. You will need to have new plates made and settled that will have a black background with white or chrome.
You buy a vehicle over 30 years old
If you have just bought an old car, you must ask the French Federation of vintage vehicles (FFVE) for an authorisation.
The FFVE will certify the age of your vehicle and allow you to request the registration of the vehicle in use "collection car".
