If you inherit a vehicle after a loved one's death and you do not want to keep it, you can sell it, give it or have it destroyed.

Step 1: collect multiple information from the future owner

Ask the future owner of the vehicle for the following information:

  • Birth name
  • First
  • Gender
  • Date of birth
  • Country and city of birth

Step 2: start the online process

1 Start the process using online service accessible on the website of the National Secured Securities Agency (ANTS).

You must identify yourself France Connect.

If you do not wish to identify yourself via France Connect and the vehicle has an AB 123 CD registration, you must enter the 5-digit PIN you received with the carte grise. If you have lost this code, use the "Request a new code" button. The code will be made available a few hours later in your personal space ANTS.

Warning  

if a third party steps in for you, they will have to log on sound ANTS account, or create one in its name. He'll have to click the "For Someone Else" button. If the vehicle has an AB 123 CD registration, you will have to give it the 5-digit PIN received with the carte grise.

2 You must fill in the information obtained from the future owner.

3 Download and print the following documents:

One transfer code is issued to secure and facilitate the administrative procedures of the future owner.

Step 3: meeting and transaction with future owner

Complete the transfer certificate with the new owner, specifying the date and time of the sale. This statement allows you to be relieved of any responsibility for any offence or accident he would commit.

You will need to provide the new owner with the following documents:

  • Signed copy 2 of the form cerfa 15776 , on behalf of the heir or heirs with their addresses
  • Certificate of Administrative Status (dated less than 15 days)
  • carte grise of the vehicle

  • Proof of technical control, if your vehicle is more than 4 years old and is not exempted from technical inspection. It must be less than 6 months old or less than 2 months old if counter-visit has been prescribed.

Step 4: resume and end the online process

Within 15 days of handing over documents to the new owner, you must complete the transaction registration by returning to the online service used in step 2. Click on "My steps in progress".

  • Date and time of transfer
  • Vehicle mileage
  • New Owner Full Address

There is no document to attach.
