I'm moving from my parents' house to a house that I'm going to rent. Depending on whether I'm a student (including on an apprenticeship or co-op contract) or not, different housing solutions are possible. Moving and renting for the 1re Some involve taking certain steps, which differ depending on whether my installation is permanent or not. Here are the steps and how to do them.

My student services

This accommodation, located in university residence or in another residence used for student accommodation, is awarded on means-tested terms.

I am a priority for this type of housing when I receive a scholarship on social criteria.

When I install in the accommodation:

  • I'll have to provide a security deposit. If necessary, I can ask the loca-pass advance (interest-free loan).
  • I'll have to present a surety who agrees to pay rent and expenses if I am unable to do so. It may be a natural person (parent, friend, etc.) or a legal person (Visal guarantee in particular).

On key delivery, I must make with the owner or his representative (including real estate agent) a inventory of entry points.

Furnished room in the home

I can rent a furnished room at the local house.

The room must be 9 meters2 minimum, have a window, be heated and contain a minimum of furniture (bedding, table, seat, storage, lighting).

If the room does not have a kitchen area or private sanitary facilities, it is mandatory to write a lease with an annex indicating that the owner shares those of his accommodation with the tenant of the room.

In all cases, it is recommended to sign a conventional residential lease for a furnished dwelling or a mobility lease.

Housing of the Crous

  • The price of water and electricity consumption is included in the rent.
  • Internet access is available in the room and possibly in a common area of the residence. Its cost is included in the rent.

Owner's home

Please note

any rental repairs are at my expense for the duration of the rental.

Furnished room in the home

Most often, the owner does not ask the student to participate in the payment of the internet connection.

On the other hand, he charges him a lump sum for electricity, gas and water. This package must be mentioned in the rental contract.

I can choose a new one attending physician, because his office is located near my new address, for example.

I'm looking at what the rules are with respect to a student's social security affiliation.

If I leave my parents' house permanently :

  • I have to report my change of address to various organizations and companies. I can declare my change of address via the internet and in one operation to La Poste, Pôle emploi, to taxes...
  • I have to update my situation with the companies that manage my contracts and subscriptions (bank, telephone subscription, car insurer...).
  • I have to do carte grise enter my new address on the from my car. It is not necessary to change the address of my driving license, I can do it when applying for a new license (in case of loss, theft, new category...).

If I'm over 16, and until my 25th birthdaye birthday, i need to notify your center of the national service of my change of address.

i do not have to change the address on my identity card and passport.

If I am a citizen of a Member State of the European Union :

  • I can register on the electoral lists of my new municipality to take part in municipal and/or European elections.
  • If I have an EU residence card (not mandatory), I must have it modified.

Social housing
